I have taught computer science for 14 years. I currently deliver the KS3, 4 and 5 computing curriculum, teaching the OCR J277 GCSE specification and the OCR H446 A level specification. I solely deliver and assess components 2 and 3 of the H446 specification, my students’ submissions have been moderated and marks agreed every year since delivering component 3.
In advance of entering the education sector, I achieved a BSc in Computer Forensics with first-class honours. In my placement year, I worked as a hi-tech forensic investigator at Forensic Telecommunications Services, where I analysed computers and mobile devices for law enforcement purposes.
I have been employed as a teacher of Computer Science at a private school in Newcastle since 2018 and in 2021 also completed a maternity cover as a Head of Department. I have been an assistant examiner for OCR J277/01 and J277/02 for the past 4 years. In my previous school, I was Assistant Curriculum Leader of Business and Computing and was also employed by Pearson as a Vocational Trainer.
I have a passion for teaching and learning; I pride myself on delivering engaging lessons. I have a determination to raise achievement and strive to ensure students always meet, if not exceed, their target grade. I have high expectations of students, and my priority is always to establish a safe, enjoyable, and productive learning environment where, through a differentiated approach, all students can reach their potential.
