Hi! Bonjour! I'm Rachael. I'm a fully-qualified teacher of French and worked in schools for over a decade. I am now a full-time French tutor for students of all ages, from young people to adults. I absolutely love teaching and supporting students in developing not only their skills in terms of the French language but in their confidence too. I believe that feeling confident in their ability is paramount to a student's success in being developing their language skills.
I love working with students of all abilities and attitudes to French - I know that its not a subject loved by all but, with the right approach, I have found that even the most initially anti-French student can enjoy learning languages!. Very kindly, many parents have told me that I have inspired their child and boosted their self-esteem and confidence through my teaching.
In addition to teaching, I am an invigilator and a GCSE examiner so know exactly what examiners are looking for in exams and how students can achieve their potential.
I have:
*10 years of teaching in schools including being Head of Languages
* 8 years of teaching privately - 1:1, in pairs and in small group
* Taught students from the age of 5 up to adult learners.
* Prepared students for 11+ and Common Entrance to some of the country's top independent schools
* Experience of teaching AQA, Edexcel, IGCSE (Edexcel and Cambridge)
* Plenty of experience in teaching students with neurodiversities and specific learning needs including ASD, ADHD and dyslexia
I love to make learning enjoyable and appealing to every student I teach! Each lesson is tailored to the individual I work with so as to create a lesson that is interactive, engaging, relevant and responsive. I create an environment where students feel supports and inspired to succeed. In my lessons I use material relevant to the age, interests and level of the student, as well as using games and song to make learning more memorable. For exam students, we work on exam skills and technique, creating mnemonics for writing papers and developing confidence for all elements of the exam.
