I am a qualified A-level Psychology teacher and AQA examiner, with nearly 20 years experience teaching AQA Psychology, currently in a top UK private school. I am also one of few Subject Matter Specialist's in A-level Psychology for Ofqual (the official regulator of qualifications in England), where I review A-level specifications, exam papers and mark schemes to ensure complicity with the regulators rigorous standards.

As an AQA A-level examiner, who has marked all 3 A-level papers, I have an excellent and highly sort-after knowledge of what students need in order to achieve high marks in the exams and how to develop their skills to achieve top grades.

Tutoring Experience

I am incredibly passionate about Psychology and absolutely love the AQA A-level course! I find all the topics fascinating and love to create a similar passion in my students. The more passionate students feel, the harder they work and the better they achieve!

I thoroughly enjoy online teaching and making the most of online platforms. Online teaching is excellent for engaging students, as you can be very creative when using them. Online tutoring is especially great for exam practice, as I can give instant feedback with how to instantly improve work.

Without a doubt, the best thing about being a psychology tutor is helping students achieve the best results they can. A prime example of the value of my tuition is a student whose grade improved from an E in the year 12 mocks to an A in their 2024 exam. Another student, who retook their A-level achieved an A* in the 2024 exam series, following my tuition and exam guidance. Similarly, a student progressed from a U in their mock to a B in the 2023 exam. Crucially, these remarkable achievements were gained by students who began tutoring sessions with me from the start of year 13 and had a whole year of tuition with me as a result.

Tutoring Approach

Lessons will be tailored to meet your needs, as well as to help you achieve your target grade or, with the right mindset, higher. During our sessions we can focus on developing your understanding of content in Psychology, as well as developing skills in essay writing, short question answers, application of knowledge questions and research methods questions, including focusing on revision techniques.

I have access to all questions from past exam papers, allowing us to focus on exam questions and understanding mark schemes to help develop your exam skills.

I only offer online tutoring sessions in the day, which not only helps students utilise their school/college study periods effectively but also fosters a healthy balance between home and school. Therefore, I am happy to work around the student's school or college timetable to tutor them online during their free periods.

The price you pay per hour will include the marking of exam practice questions (if these are set for the student to complete outside of the session), as well as resources to use during our sessions, or to consolidate learning outside of the sessions.
