Tutoring Experience

I am a fully qualified, enhanced CRB checked, secondary school teacher of English with 22 years of experience in both teaching and private tutoring. I teach English & English Literature at Key Stage 3, GCSE, iGCSE and A level, as well as Functional Skills English. I am also an examiner and have examined for the main UK exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA, WJEC and Cambridge, examining both English and English Literature GCSE, iGCSE, Functional Skills English and AS Level. This gives me a clear understanding of the expectations of exam boards and exam papers.

Tutoring Approach

One to one online tuition is an alternative to the normal classroom experience and can help to personalise learning, develop confidence and enhance key skills. I provide one to one online tuition in Secondary English & English Literature at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level. All tutoring is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the individual to determine strengths, weaknesses and to set targets to progress. Lessons are interesting and engaging, ensuring that students develop the skills to become confident and independent learners. A variety of activities and resources are used including written exercises, reading responses, assessment preparation and practice exams to encourage attainment.
