I have over 20 years experience designing fun, educational experiences for children and teenagers in a variety of settings including schools, home education and through online resources. I have worked with a wide range of ages and abilities and have a passion for helping learners have confidence and find enjoyment in their writing. I have a Masters in Education in which I focused on how to develop self-confidence in learning and teaching methods that enable this.
I also run Wild Literacy, an online resource for teachers, home educators and parents, which provides literacy activities that make learning fun and engaging.
I love working with children to help them have fun and be more confident writers.
I have a lot of experience teaching and supporting primary aged children as well as home educating my own children through to GCSE level (in which they achieved an 8 and 9 in English Language).
I am familiar with the specific skills required for GCSE exams as well as a passion and knowledge to build key skills from KS2 to KS4 in creative writing, enabling children to find their own voice and explore their creativity.
I tailor teaching to individual children, incorporating their interests and strengths to help them be able to experience learning new or tricky things with confidence and enjoyment. I always encourage a growth mindset through my interactions with students to help them take on challenges and value the process of learning.
