I started out training to be a civil engineer, but half way through my degree I had a change of heart and switched to a general studies degree which included physical geography, pure mathematics, the history of science, astronomy and politics. I have diverse interests! Later on I studied pure and applied mathematics to second year undergraduate level with the Open University obtaining a Diploma in Mathematics. I started teaching in Middle Schools in Suffolk, but moved on to work in international schools in Thailand, Egypt, Brazil and Switzerland. After a painful divorce I have settled down in Market Deeping where my family have lived for thirty years.
I enjoy reading, walking, running, cycling, skiing, swimming, travel, good music, socialising, pub quizzes and watching Liverpool FC over a couple of pints!
I have twenty years experience of teaching a variety of subjects mainly at KS 2/3 with some maths and physics to GCSE. For the last ten years I have been a general subjects supply teacher and private maths tutor. I have mainly tutored students at foundation GCSE, but a few at higher GCSE and a couple at A level core.
I aim to put my students at ease and build their confidence in the subject. I have been told that I explain concepts clearly. I have a wide variety of resources for students to complete exercises to consolidate their understanding.
