I am a computer science graduate with a passion for maths and education. After graduating I started tutoring and found I loved helping students progress, especially in a subject that so many claimed to havbe lost their passion for. Seeing the joy that could be brought to a student who felt they could never grasp a certain topic like fractions, all of a sudden finding they could work with them in much more complicated questions, inspired me to keep working in education ever since.
From 2020 to 2024 I worked at Mathnasium in Crouch End where I tutored students from the ages of 4 to 16. There I learned very helpful methods for foundational early-years maths instruction, as well as helping many students succeed in their SATS, GCSE, 7+ and 11+ exams.
As well as this I worked at Parliament Hill School from 2022 to 2024 assisting teachers and students in both KS3 and GCSE lessons.
One of the best yet most difficult parts of learning maths is how connected all the topics are. If you are weak in certain areas such as fractions and multiplication, all future topics become much more difficult, but if you have a strong foundation to work off, then each new topic is just one small extra step.
That is why my focus as a tutor is first finding any topics that you struggle with, filling those gaps, and progressing and excelling in more involved topics.
I always lead with kindness and patience and believe that no matter how much 'you just don't get it', you can and will improve you maths skills.
