My name is Richard and I am a current second year PhD student at the University of Cambridge researching embodied AI in robotics. I was born in Brazil but I have been living in the UK for 12 years, having graduated from secondary and sixth form here, and then pursuing an Aerospace and Information Engineering degree from Cambridge.
I have two years’ hands-on, small-group teaching experience with first- to third-year students here in Cambridge, plus a year of tutoring high-ability A-Level students (internationally) through university-level super-curricular sessions that broaden their horizons and spark curiosity.
My classes are highly interactive: I always bring a topic-specific activity or mini-challenge to boost engagement and deepen understanding. Each lesson comes with a short homework or follow-up task so students can consolidate what we’ve covered on their own. Most important, I put independence front and centre—prompting students to do the talking, voice their questions, and explain their reasoning—so clear, confident articulation becomes second nature when they step into university seminars or job interviews.
