I am a highly-experienced educator, having spent nearly two decades teaching adults and children of all ages and abilities. In addition to having a PGCE (Exeter University) and TEFL Certificate, I am a former IELTS examiner.

Tutoring Experience

I started as an ESL teacher in South Korea in 2004 working with children and young adults. Following my PGCE, I worked mainly at universities and colleges, teaching a variety of foundation and IELTS preparation courses. In Oman, I worked as an IELTS examiner and spent some time after this teaching IELTS, general and business English courses in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In addition, I spent two years writing ESL textbooks full-time.

My most recent teaching position was for an international school in Vietnam (The Dewey Schools, Hai Phong) where I taught Humanities and Social Studies to a Year 9 ESL class. This involved substantially rewriting the curriculum and modifying assessed tasks to fit in with the language ability of the students, as well as delivering a tailored ESL curriculum to support their learning.

I'm patient, friendly and empathic as a teacher. My approach is flexible and entirely responsive to the needs of the student.
