My name is Richard, or Rich, and I live near Ashby-de-la-Zouch. I have a passion for history, specialising in the First World War, Victorian England and the Industrial Revolution.
I am very friendly and approachable, encouraging, and my main aim is to see students achieve their full potential and take pride in their own learning achievements.
Presently, I am a teacher in a SEN/SEMH school. I have a number of 1-1 students but also groups of no more than 3 students. I am in my 5th year at this school. Prior to this, I worked as an unqualified teacher in a mainstream school on a year contract, having all years in KS3 and 4 and a small A-level group, which was a very nice and laid back environment. After graduating, I worked as a cover supervisor, mainly in schools around Nottingham, gaining a lot of experience from this type of work.
My approach is quite a simple one....read, read, read, listen and watch....pay attention to detail, especially names, places and dates. These are where the extra marks are achieved in exams. Always try to present an argument in your topics. You do not have to agree with the historian! We can all agree that the Titanic sunk after hitting an iceberg....your job, as an historian, is to know why it hit an iceberg in the first place.
