I am a very experienced Trombonist, I have 28 years of experience with the Trombone and have played in varies styles. I have played in brass bands, gaining great experiences including playing at the National Brass Band Championships and for Olympic torch at Nottingham Ice Arena. I have also been part of a brass quintet that played at various events from weddings to County fairs.
My Journey into music began on Trumpet at the age of 8 moving to the trombone at 12. I was also part of a Church choir for many years. Having always been involved with music I had always wanted to teach but had never had the opportunity. At the age of 35 I decided to leave my job working on a golf course to finally pursue my dream. I am now currently in the final year of a music degree at The University of Nottingham, with the goal of becoming a full-time trombone teacher.
I have had many years of experience in different roles of teaching. I spent 3 years helping teach individual children for a local Brass Band’s training brand. This involved sitting with pupils during rehearsals and helping them with their part. I would also take pupils for individual lessons. These lessons would vary from complete beginners to putting pupils into ABRSM grades. I have also taught private pupils and had them go on to use the ABRSM grade system and the Trinity grade system.
My approach to teaching is to view each pupil individually, I believe that each pupil has different needs and as a result should have an individual plan to help them be the best they can be.
