I have over thirty years’ experience of being an English Teacher in a large secondary school on the outskirts of Bristol and have recently taken early retirement for family reasons. Over the years students taught by me have consistently met or exceeded their expected grades and I have had much feedback from students and their parents saying how I have made my subject interesting, entertaining and understandable.
I have up to date experience of teaching:
English Literature A-level
English Language A-level
English Literature GCSE
English Language GCSE
I have also taught Media Studies at AS and A level.
I am a very experienced KS3 English teacher.
I have also taught and examined the EPQ
I have been and examiner for the AQA A-level English Language course and so have an excellent understanding of the course requirements.
I am an energetic, dynamic and creative teacher with excellent subject knowledge and I take pride in my ability to enthuse students of all abilities by adapting my teaching methods to individual students’ needs and interests. I am friendly and affable and, as a tutor, could either provide my own materials or could work to support the work that a student might be doing in a classroom already and I have many hints and tricks that I could offer to help students reach their potential in exams.
