As a Mathematics tutor, I take a personalised approach to teaching. I make an effort to get to know each of my students and their learning style, and tailor my methods to best suit their needs. My teaching philosophy centres around making learning engaging and enjoyable. I work hard to create a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. I understand first-hand how overwhelming and frustrating it can be when you're struggling to keep up in a classroom.

I started my career as a secondary school Maths teacher, which gave me invaluable experience. However, I soon realised that in a busy classroom setting, it was incredibly difficult to give each student the individual attention they needed and deserved. That led me to pursue a career in data, where I now work part-time as a Data Lead. But my passion for helping students—especially young people—never left me. It really stayed with me how many children slip through the cracks when they don’t get the one-to-one support that can make all the difference.

Tutoring has allowed me to return to the part of teaching I loved most: supporting students personally and seeing their confidence grow. I find it incredibly fulfilling, and I’m dedicated to helping each of my students succeed in Maths.

My approach is to adapt to each learner’s unique needs and strengths, offering clear explanations, practical examples, and plenty of encouragement. I draw not only on my classroom teaching experience but also my career in data, bringing real-world context to lessons that helps students see how Maths is applied beyond school.

I focus on creating a safe, open environment where students feel confident asking questions and exploring new ideas at their own pace. My goal is to make Maths feel less intimidating and more like a puzzle that can be tackled step by step. I also aim to build lasting confidence, so students leave our sessions feeling more capable and independent in their learning.
