I have excellent academic skills, having achieved a bachelor’s degree in English with Creative Writing, and a master’s degree in Creative Writing. I have spent many years volunteering at various charities and events, including Huddersfield Literature Festival and Haworth Riding for the Disabled Association. I always strive to make a difference through my work.
I am passionate about poetry, I write and read obsessively, as well as running the website poetryfornerds.com. I am currently working on my second poetry collection which centres around themes of race, class and gender politics.
I am a private tutor to students studying their A-Levels and Degrees. Talking about complex literature and planning lessons that allowed my students to develop their love and understanding of literature is one of the most rewarding things that I have done.
I believe that the impact of literature reaches far beyond the classroom. I encourage students to explore what they love about literature- there is always something! Because I am a writer myself, I believe that this puts me in a unique position to understand the intricacies of how prose and poetry are formed by the writer, and would therefore be able to give the students the perspective of both researcher and practitioner.
