Rowan

Hi! I'm Rowan, a Russell Group law student at the University of York with recent, firsthand experience of the exams you're preparing for. Having achieved A* to A in A-Level English Literature and Politics, as well as top grades in GCSE English, I understand what it takes to succeed. As a student at a top uni I know how to write test-targeted essays and how to work with students who need that extra boost to get the grades they need to get into college or 6th Form.

Tutoring Experience

Beyond tutoring, I have experience in a constituency political role and have taught debate for two years, coaching a team to the Mace competition. Whether you're looking to boost essay skills, improve exam technique, or deepen your subject understanding, I’m here to help! I am also a Second-year Law student at York, so I know I can help you develop your skills to a Russel group level.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is supportive, understanding, and tailored to your needs. Before our first session, we'll identify your key focus areas to ensure our time is as effective as possible. I use a structured two-tier lesson format - "Feedback", where we analyse past work and refine key skills, and "Pickup", where we apply knowledge to new scenarios and set learning objectives. This is based on the Problem Based Learning system used at the University of York's Law School, giving you greater experience in breaking down essay problems. I also provide post-session work, which can be emailed to me for additional feedback.
