I am an experienced French and German tutor and graduate of Oxford University (French and German) and studied my A-Levels at the Henrietta Barnett School, achieving A-A*s in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, French and German. I've also studied at the University of Freiburg in Germany and worked in Paris, and I hold a Masters degree in Philosophy (Distinction).
I have experience teaching French and German to learners of a range of ages, from groups of five-year-olds to individual adult learners, including preparing students for their GCSE and A-Level exams.
When teaching languages, practice and exposure is the most important thing -- I aim to make students feel comfortable writing and speaking at their level, and identify areas for improvement. I've always loved learning grammar so I am keen to pass this enthusiasm on to students who find grammar tricky. In the run-up to exams I focus on practice questions and exam technique. I enjoy working with students to find a tailored approach according to their strengths and weaknesses.
For students studying towards exams, I aim to make sure the students get to grips with the requirements of exam boards and practise exam-style questions, as often students will have a good understanding but struggle to obtain exam marks which reflect that.
