My name is Ruth and I am mother to three young children. I love lifting weights, running, cycling, acting, playing with my children, walking and day trips!
I am a former Head of English in an independent boarding school with 14 years of teaching experience. To make time for my family, I have recently moved to teaching part-time in a Cheshire academy and continue to cover the GCSE syllabus, but have taught across a range of abilities and across Key Stages 2-5. I enjoy teaching both literature and language at GCSE, as well as A level. I am also an examiner for AQA.
Once I’ve determined a student’s strengths and weaknesses, I work on developing the weaknesses through strategies that will enable the students to hit the necessary assessment objectives. I provide less able students with frameworks and scaffolding, and challenge more able pupils with strategies to develop flair.
