• I gained a PhD in Physics from Nottingham University, UK.
• I have considerable experience teaching A levels, GCSE, iGCSE , BTEC, University Foundation Programme, Undergraduate and Graduate courses in Physics.
• Private tutoring experience of teaching A levels - OCR A , OCR B, AQA Exam Boards and GCSE - CIE and Edexcel Boards.
• Being an Examiner for A levels, iGCSE and GCSE, has made me aware of the misconceptions students have and errors they make while attempting exam questions. This has given me an insight on the type of responses the student need to make to obtain higher grades.
• My background has given me an understanding of different cultures and attitudes, since my personal education has taken place in different countries. This has enabled me to work effectively with students of different social, educational and cultural backgrounds.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching A levels, IGCSE and GCSE since 2006. Previously, I was associated with the Department of Physics at the University of Karachi, Pakistan. There, I taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses for over 18 years. Subjects include: mechanics, thermodynamics, nuclear physics, quantum physics, mathematical methods and also specialised courses on gravitation & relativity, high-energy physics, biophysics, advanced quantum mechanics.

Tutoring Approach

My specialist subject knowledge combined with the PGCE developed my effectiveness in promoting learning.
I tailor my tutoring to the needs of the individual student, developing a relaxed and friendly environment, where the student feels confident enough to ask questions and clarify concepts.
I not only stress the theoretical aspects of the topic under study but also the mathematics behind the physical phenomenon. This enables the student to make connections and link physics and mathematics, developing their thinking and reasoning skills.
I help the student to reach their potential by using targeted revision and exam techniques. In each session, I use past exam papers for practice, familiarising the student with the style of exam questions, thus preparing them for their exams.
