Private Maths and Physics Tuition in Manchester

Hi there! I am Sakim, completing a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Manchester currently. I completed my A-level equivalent qualifications in Bangladesh where I studied all the science subjects and had an overall score that was in the top 5% in the country. I have a first-class in my BSc Biochemistry degree, where I received the most distinguished student award from my department and I received a distinction in my MSc Bioinformatics degree. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of my degrees and my current PhD project, I am well-suited to teach a range of STEM subjects. I am patient by nature and I have worked in a range of environments (academic, NHS, retail) where I have gained further professional and personal skills that help me be an excellent teacher.

Tutoring Experience

During my undergraduate years, I worked in schools teaching students who were behind their cohorts and required extra help. I have successfully taught them difficult-to-understand concepts and their confidence grew as a result. I have tutored my friends during my BSc and MSc years where I would find innovative ways and examples to help them understand difficult concepts.

Tutoring Approach

I mainly focus on helping my students understand key concepts as I believe the only way to tackle any exam situation is to understand the concepts well first. A typical lesson would involve the following:

1) Explaining the topic at hand comprehensively
2) Asking my student to explain it back to me
3) Solve problems together using the information that we just learned
4) Setting slightly harder problems as homework that test my students' critical thinking
5) Discuss them in our next lesson

However, my method is flexible depending on the student's particular needs and abilities. I am versatile in terms of the methods I use to explain the concepts, ranging from hand-drawn materials to different audiovisual contents
