Hi, my name is Sam and I am an experienced Secondary Science teacher and tutor. I am currently Assistant Head of Science at a secondary school in Stalybridge where I specialise in GCSE Physics.
I achieved a 1st class Chemistry degree and was one of 150 trainee teachers to be awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry teaching Scholarship during my PGCE year.
I am a keen and supportive tutor and am quick to build strong relationships with my students. I work with students to feel more confident with their studies and to help them find the joy and the excitement in the natural world around them.
5 Years Science Teaching
2 years Assistant Head of Science
3 Years as a Teaching Assistant working with SEND pupils.
Previous tutoring experience working with individuals at GCSE and small groups across 11-16
I am flexible and like to adjust my approach to what each individual student needs. Initially, I will gauge any gaps a student has using Specification points and past exam papers. I will then aim to address each area using explanation, worked examples and past exam questions. I excel at teaching exam technique and can offer many exam based strategies for picking up as many marks as possible. I like my tutoring to be interactive and encourage students to ask questions and to be curious.
