Hi there! My name's Sam - I'm a hugely experienced private tutor with almost 10 years of teaching experience (see Experience section below).
Outside of tutoring, I am a non-practicing solicitor with a background working in politics.
I am hugely experienced, with almost 10 years' experience in private tuition. I have taught Maths to students at every stage: from KS2 right through to A level. I have taught Philosophy at A level, and even to undergraduate students studying at university. The feedback I receive from both parents and students has always been very positive, and my students often go on to achieve top grades.
I have also worked for educational charities such as Gateways.
I am friendly, confident, patient and great at building rapport with students. I am always keen to ensure that no topic is left uncovered or unsure.
I like to really engage students as much as possible with the subject and explain why each topic is useful or relevant. Some students struggle at school to engage with Maths in particular and I think a big reason for that is the way it can be taught. Sometimes it can feel like teachers are just going through the motions and effectively telling students "you just need to learn how to do X for your exam", rather than framing the topic in a way that is interesting and appeals to students.
I have also been told by parents that I am a good role model for their children given my own academic record and professional achievements!
Let me also add that as someone who was a VERY cheeky student once upon a time, I truly know all the tricks of the trade and nothing gets past me...
