I am a passionate and experienced English tutor dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals through personalised and engaging online lessons. I have an excellent track record for academic success. My background in teaching and leadership has equipped me with the skills to create effective learning environments and foster student success. I am excited to bring my expertise to an online tutoring role and support students in their English language learning journey.
I am a former Deputy Headteacher and Head of English, but first and foremost, I am a teacher of English with over 27 years of teaching experience, including over 20 years as an examiner of English Language and English Literature for all major exam boards in the UK, at GCSE and A Level. I was also the Principal Examiner for the iGCSE qualification at WJEC.

I have been tutoring online for the past 3 years, and have an outstanding record of student academic performance, including many of my past students gaining access to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
My teaching approach is completely student-centred, with their needs firmly at the centre of my planning. Building confidence and a 'can-do' attitude is also integral to my approach:
Personalised Lessons: I start by understanding each student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning goals. This allows me to create lessons that are specifically designed to help them succeed.
Interactive Sessions: I use interactive tools and activities to keep students engaged. This includes using digital whiteboards, quizzes, and multimedia resources to make lessons interesting and dynamic.
Clear Communication: I make sure to explain concepts clearly and in a way that is easy to understand. I encourage students to ask questions and actively participate in the lessons.
Encouragement and Support: I believe in positive reinforcement. I celebrate my students' successes and provide constructive feedback to help them improve. My aim is to build their confidence and motivate them to keep learning.
Real-World Connections: I relate lessons to real-life examples that are relevant to the student. This helps make learning more meaningful and easier to grasp.
Flexibility: I adapt my teaching methods based on what works best for each student. If one approach isn’t effective, I try another until we find what clicks.
Progress Tracking: I regularly assess my students' progress and adjust lessons accordingly. This helps ensure that they are always moving forward and achieving their learning goals.
Overall, my teaching approach is student-centred, interactive, and flexible, aimed at making learning a positive and successful experience for every student.
