I am a Primary School teacher with over a decade of experience teaching across all Primary aged subjects as well as English as a Foreign Language which I have taught in five different countries. I have a strong interest in History, which I have a bachelors degree in, and would therefore be comfortable tutoring History up to Year 9.
I have a wealth of experience working with young people across a diverse range of educational settings. Whilst tutoring in Hong Kong, I had the pressure of pushing high attaining students to achieve the very best results. In Vietnam and Colombia, I had to adapt to teaching across KS1, 2, 3 and 4 in societies with vastly different outlooks on education. Whilst back in London, I have developed my own pedagogy through Teacher Training whilst refining my skills at teaching areas like Maths, Science, History, Geography and PSHCE. Four years of teaching across Year 4, 5 and 6 has left me with a deep and broad understanding of the KS2 national curriculum and the expectation of students within this age band. Most recently, I taught some of the country's most challenging students at the SEMH provision Octavia House. This required a high degree of flexibility, resilience and pushed me to have a continually reflective practice. During my time here I also led on many off-site excursions as community outreach was a central part to the school's ethos.
I have a firm but fair approach towards my students. I understand that many behavioural problems arise from students not being pushed enough or even being pushed too far. As a tutor, I see it as my role to find solutions to students disengaging with their studies; whether it be adjusting the work set for the student, creating more engaging lessons or finding out what it is that motivates them.
