I am an experienced History teacher with over ten years in the profession, recently completing a Master’s degree in History, specialising in Irish migration and sectarianism in 19th-century British. I currently work as leader and teacher at a top British school. My teaching covers Key Stage 3, iGCSE, and IBDP History, giving me a strong understanding of the demands across different curriculums. I am passionate about helping students master complex historical topics, improve their writing, and develop the analytical skills needed to achieve academic success.

Tutoring Experience

Since qualifying as a teacher in 2013, I have worked across a range of educational settings, including online and international schools. I currently teach and lead pastoral care at a highly respected online institution, where I specialise in preparing students for examinations and coursework in History. My focus is on developing students’ source analysis, essay writing, and critical thinking – skills that are vital for securing top grades. Having supported students from diverse backgrounds, I understand how to adapt my teaching to suit individual needs and learning styles.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach is built around helping students gain confidence and clarity in their work. I begin by identifying gaps in their understanding and tailoring sessions to target those areas, ensuring that progress is both rapid and lasting. I place particular importance on improving students’ written work – helping them structure essays effectively, evaluate sources critically, and develop arguments that meet the highest exam standards. My goal is not only to improve grades but also to spark a genuine interest in the subject, encouraging students to think independently and engage fully with the past.
