I am a highly skilled practitioner who loves working with children. I specialise in Upper Key Stage Two and currently have my own Year 6 class whom I am supporting through the pandemic. In addition to this, I am also Geography Lead and devise all plans from Early Years to Year 6.
Knowledge is power and the goal is to educate all children as they are the future.
My experience consists of 10+ years within the field of education.
Before I graduated in 2012 I began my career as an Early Years Educator working with the under 5's. Once I graduated with a BA Hons in Childhood Studies I pursued a career in children services as a Family Support Worker supporting vulnerable children & families. Alongside this, I would also voluntarily counsel vulnerable children at Childline services which lasted four years.
After this, my path then lead me to work as a Teaching Assistant for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 which fuelled my passion for teaching which is when I completed a 140-hour Tefl course to pursue another passion of mine - Literacy. With this, I moved to Japan to teach English for one year in an elementary school which motivated me to obtain my PGCE and teach in the primary field full time upon my return.
My teaching approach is centred and determined by the child, creating a child-centred approach. Children learn best when learning is explicitly modelled to them. My techniques will range from specific questioning which targets deeper thinking, verbal and visual modelling and growth mindset- this will not only promote critical thinking but as a whole will increase children's confidence and self-belief when learning - equalling greater outcomes.
