Hi, I'm Serena, a dedicated teacher with 10 years of experience in education. I spent 2 years teaching in Norfolk before moving to London, where I am now entering my 8th year of teaching.
Outside the classroom, I have a passion for sports, music, animals, and cooking. You'll often find me running, cycling, at the gym, or enjoying walks and meals with friends. I bring this energy and enthusiasm into my teaching, aiming to create an engaging and supportive learning environment for all my students.
Looking forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!
Last year, my students' SATs results were in the top 0.05% of the country. Holding a master's degree in Education Practice and Research, I stay up to date with the latest pedagogy in education. This, combined with my extensive classroom experience from Years Two to Six, has given me a broad and deep understanding of the primary curriculum.
I have worked with children from diverse backgrounds and with various needs, teaching and tutoring in both Norfolk and London. Currently, I am teaching Year Six, preparing children to transition smoothly to high school.
I believe that providing a child with the best education possible opens doors to opportunities they can choose to take or avoid.
My approach to tutoring is centred on providing a comprehensive, personalised, and supportive learning experience. Drawing on my extensive classroom experience and the latest pedagogical insights from my master's degree in Education Practice and Research, I tailor each session to meet the individual needs of each student.
I focus on building a strong foundation in core subjects while also encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills. My goal is to create a positive and engaging environment where students feel confident and motivated to learn. By understanding each student’s background and learning style, I design sessions that not only address their immediate academic needs but also prepare them for future success.
I believe that education should empower students to explore opportunities and make informed choices. Therefore, I emphasise not just academic achievement but also the development of skills and attitudes that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
