I am an experienced senior examiner (my current roles include; Assistant Principal Examiner, Team Leader and Paper Reviser) for national and international examining bodies. I am a Lead Teacher at an outstanding Grammar School. I have been tutoring IGCSE/GCSE/A-level English, History, Sociology and Psychology for over 10 years.
In addition to my teaching and extensive examining work, I'm a Teacher Trainer/Facilitator and train teachers on assessment and marking around the world.
As an experienced teacher and senior examiner, I understand how and where students can gain marks in their exams. My students achieve excellent results year on year. I have been teaching at an outstanding Grammar school since 2015. I am an experienced tutor of IGCSE/GCSE/A-level English, History, Sociology and Psychology with all of my students improving their grades in their final exams. Most improve their grades by 2-3 levels/grades.
'Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions'
My approach is to simplify key/tricky concepts by enabling students to apply their knowledge to current affairs. If students can relate to ideas or at least find examples around the world they will have a better understanding. I encourage my students to apply relevant examples in their exams and tips on how to impress examiners ;-)!
My approach is flexible; all learners have different needs and learn in different ways. I first establish my students needs by finding out as much as I can about the ways they learn, this enables me to plan and prepare sessions so my students can get the most out of their tutoring session. Homework/flipped learning is set, and thorough assessment and feedback form an integral part of my tutoring style.
I am able to help the students master those 'bottle-neck' concepts that may take more time to get to grips with. These areas are usually on specific topic areas or skills that relate to how to answer exam questions. These skills are vital for exam success. My method of delivery ensures that motivation never wavers and exam stress, panic and anxiety is dramatically reduced.
