I am a committed, creative and empathetic teacher who enjoys working with a range of students from all backgrounds, viewing it as a privilege to help people to improve their skills and develop their confidence. I have reasonable but high expectations of myself and my students and take a professional approach at all times. I have up to date safeguarding training and a current DBS registered on the update service.
I am a very experienced tutor/teacher having spent fifteen years teaching music and then a further twelve years in primary education including a period as deputy head and acting head. I have good curriculum knowledge throughout the primary age range and am able to plan and deliver a bespoke series of lessons designed to meet individual need and develop confidence.
Success must come from the individual. The key for me is to get to know that individual, to find out what makes them tick, what they like and dislike, what makes them struggle to learn, both emotionally and practically. I use a range of age-appropriate methods including games, problem-solving, interactive and practical activities to help students to really understand the concepts they are learning and to deepen and extend knowledge and understanding.
