I currently work as a Secondary school SENCo and Geography teacher. I lead on interventions to support students with numeracy and literacy difficulties. I have worked as a study skills SEN tutor, specialising in supporting students with GCSE science, at a leading Independent school. I am a rowing coach for adults, and captain a women's cricket softball team. I am also the parent of two secondary school children so I also understand the parent's perspective of modern schooling.
I have been teaching for over 20 years, I am a qualified SENCo and have provided 1:1 tutoring and small group study support in a range of school settings.
I call my tuition business Removedas in order for students to succeed in meeting their goals, they must first believe that they have the skills to do so. Building confidence and self esteem underpins every session. I use the metacognitive approach (learning to learn) to create independent learners so that the learning continues outside of my sessions. I run 80 minute group GCSE revision sessions, for years 10/11 and study skills and homework sessions for years 7/8/9. I also provide 1:1 reading and spelling support for secondary aged children.
