Born in Canada, I lived in the States until the age of six, when my family moved to England. I grew up in an international environment, my father an English academic, my mother, Austro-Italian and a teacher. I teach and play the cello, as well as enjoying travel and gardening.
After my teaching degree, I went to International House and got a TEFL certificate and spent my early days teaching in several language schools across London; I taught P/T in Barnsbury Secondary Girls' school and after having a family of my own, worked at Primary level, as an EMAG and Music co-ordinator, and as a class teacher before setting up my own business after a year in France with the British Council.
I have experience teaching English at all levels, including 11+, 13+, GCSE, 'A' level and University level, as well as EFL CFC and CA level and have been doing on-line tuition now since around 2014.
I adapt my teaching to the needs of the student, depending on age, ability or exam requirement. I have taught English to dyslexic children as well as teaching an illiterate adult to read and write. I enjoy working with my students and have had a range of positive feedback which you can access on www.englishexcel.co.uk.
