Sophie

Hello! My name is Sophie, and I am a Maths tutor based in the UK and I am looking for new students. I am a friendly, supportive, and encouraging tutor who will give you/your child the confidence they need in their maths work. I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2015 with a First-Class degree in Mathematics (with Classical Studies - random I know!) and from then have had multiple teaching/tutoring roles. I really enjoy building a rapport with students in a 1-1 capacity. Seeing their progress on a comprehensive level, and their increase in confidence in themselves is amazing.

Tutoring Experience

I worked in Vietnam for 14 months where I predominantly taught English, however I also tutored Mathematics to students at Hanoi International School to support them through their GCSE and IB exams. During my school and university career I also tutored Maths to struggling students on a voluntary basis. I have taught English as foreign language in China and England also, and am currently doing the same in Spain for 3 months. I have a TEFL certificate with distinction.

Tutoring Approach

I truly believe in personalising lessons to each student, considering their personality and learning style, whilst working towards their ultimate goal. From my experience this is key, as it keeps lessons engaging and enjoyable, allowing students' confidence to grow.
