My passion for mathematics, sparked in adolescence, has taken me across regions, countries, and continents, culminating in a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Liverpool and a career as a secondary school maths teacher in Bristol. Teaching students aged 11 to 17 from diverse backgrounds, I have been privileged to support both their academic growth and personal development.
I believe that, with patience and the right guidance, anyone can master mathematics—not just for exams, but for life. Rather than obstacles, exams can be milestones in a student’s journey, fostering resilience and growth. My student-centered approach ensures that every learner feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to see mathematics not as a hurdle, but as a powerful tool to understand the world, unlock their potential, and approach challenges with confidence.
With a PhD in Pure Mathematics and years of teaching experience, I have worked with students of all abilities, from secondary school to university level. At Backwell School, one of the top-performing schools near Bristol, I have taught KS3, KS4, and KS5 students, challenging high achievers while providing targeted support for those who find maths difficult. My experience extends to private tutoring, where I offer personalized lessons for GCSE, A-level, and university students. My background as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Liverpool has further strengthened my ability to teach complex mathematical concepts with clarity and depth.
I believe in an holistic, student-centered approach that nurtures confidence, curiosity, and deep understanding. My teaching is highly interactive, integrating electronic whiteboards (such as Miro) to create an engaging and dynamic learning experience. I use proven teaching strategies like “I do, we do, you do”, ensuring students move from guided instruction to independent mastery. Lessons are structured to encourage active participation, discussion, and problem-solving, helping students build both competence and resilience in mathematics. Every student is unique, and I tailor my methods to suit their individual learning styles, making maths both accessible and enjoyable.
