Hi. I'm Stephen. I'm a teacher of English. This means I get to talk about my favourite stuff with people most of the time: poetry, novels, drama, analytical writing, and creative writing. Perhaps you'd like to talk about it too. I also like to talk about popular culture, movies, and television. I especially like to talk about 'Doctor Who'. I am also keen on talking about teaching; I like to mentor teachers, NQTS and trainees. I also like to talk about eduTwitter and my doctoral research. I am a pastoral leader in my school, and can talk about that too. My favourite authors are Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Adams.
I have been a teacher of English for over twenty years, working in a range of secondary schools and, for the last seven years, at an independent school in Staffordshire. I teach KS3, GCSE and A Level. I have experience as Head of Department and, more recently, as Head of Year. In addition to being a teacher of English, I am also chaplaincy lead in my current school.
My approach is driven by you. What do you need? What do you want? Perhaps you want to brush up your literature knowledge ready for GCSE. Or maybe you want to improve your writing skills. Perhaps you want to talk about A level linguistics. Or, maybe you just want to talk about books. Perhaps you are a teacher yourself and you want some coaching or mentoring. As a pastoral leader in my school, and author of 'Beyond Wiping Noses', I am also available to support teachers and school leaders in their pastoral work.
