I am an award winning, passionate, dedicated and inspiring teacher with almost 25 years experience successfully teaching A levels to the very highest standards. Teaching is a vocation for me, my focus is always on ensuring that I tailor my teaching to the needs of each individual student, which has produced consistently outstanding results for more than two decades. I have a proven track record of enabling my students to achieve above and beyond their predicted grades. Many of my students consistently progress to Oxford, Cambridge and Russel Group universities.
The first half of my career was teaching the groundbreaking A level Critical Thinking, where I became one of the country's leading experts in teaching the skills of argument, essential to writing successful Politics essays. This culminated in wining the OCR award for the Best Results in the Country. I then took this unique skill set into teaching A level Politics, where I am the subject leader at my college, growing the number of students from 5 to 100. I consistently achieve 100% pass rates and last year was the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher award at my college. I also have 10 years experience as an examiner and senior examiner, which gives me, and my students, valuable insight into exactly what is needed to get the very highest grades.
The needs of the student sit at the heart of my teaching, the starting point is to get a clear understanding of how each student likes and needs to learn, and then create an approach that maximises these strengths, whilst developing and improving additional skills that will lead to outstanding success. I use a wide range of interactive resources, that not only lead to a clear understanding of the subject matter, but also, and crucially, the skills. My background In Critical Thinking gives me, and my students, a unique advantage in constructing essays using a simple, but highly effective essay structure that will allow access to the very highest grades. The interactive nature of my approach means the learning is also fun!
