I am a qualified teacher and have also worked as a young person's counsellor (Relate). I currently teach Maths in a Further Education College and have a full current Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate.
I have a wealth of experience teaching a wide range of abilities in Maths from the age of 11 to adult. My current specialism is GCSE level but I have also taught KS 2-3, A level and first year degree. I am highly skilled in addressing how students learn and removing potential barriers to their learning and can produce individually designed resources to ensure exam success. I am happy to teach the entire syllabus of a course or just focussing on specific areas.
I offer small group or individual tuition. I understand that not all people find Maths easy and that some may be slightly fearful of the subject. I focus on how students prefer to learn and adopt my teaching style appropriately. I work together with students keeping the end goal in mind, whilst focusing on the key essentials necessary for success. I act as a coach and facilitator and am empathetic in approach, but I set high standards and will be honest where I think a student is not meeting the requirements necessary to achieve. My students achieve very high success rates. Many of my students move from a dislike of the subject towards a realisation that they can be successful and that they actually enjoy Maths.
