Hi all, I have a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages and the Institute of Linguists Diploma in French and Spanish. With 12 years experience working in the Modern Foreign Languages department of a large secondary school, I am also a French and Spanish tutor of all ages from primary, through KS3 and GCSE, to adults wishing to learn a language from scratch or improve their knowledge.

Tutoring Experience

I currently tutor a range of abilities including primary pupils, those needing help with their language learning at KS3 and those preparing for GCSE. I’m also helping some beginner and improver adult learners. In my secondary school role I taught both whole classes and small groups requiring more targeted intervention. I worked extensively on a 1:1 basis, supporting pupils to reach and exceed their target grades. This experience of teaching and mentoring individuals and small groups has perfectly prepared me for the role of private tutor.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is calm and encouraging. I love to see the enthusiasm which comes with progress and I strive to maintain that momentum. Language learning involves four skills - listening, reading, speaking and writing - and, unless a tutee wishes to concentrate on one specific area, my tutoring methods ensure that all of these skills are covered.
