I am a French native certified freelance translator and DBS/CRB checked French tutor. I am now teaching online via the "Zoom meeting" app (post COVID) as well as face to face. I am married to a British national and we have one son. I am currently living in Bath where I teach French in several primary schools in Bath, I offer one-to-one and lively adult French & Italian group conversation sessions from home. I also teach French to neurodiverse and learning difficulties/disability children and adults. I am trained as an Emergency Paediatric first aider and I have trained in NSCPP safeguarding child protection. I also passed NCFE CACHE LEVEL 2 certificate in understanding autism at Bath College (April 2022). I can provide certificates on request. I am also a keen gardener. Please feel free to contact me.
I have over 18 years translation experience and 16 years teaching experience. From 2006 up to date I have been teaching French to primary school children, GCSE students, adults and I am so enjoying seeing my students progressing smoothly and gaining confidence in learning and applying a modern foreign language. It is very rewarding to see them leaving with a smile on their face and getting better results in French. I am pleased to announce that my 2 French GCSE students got the top note (9) in their French GCSE exam results in 2018.
Primary children: my lesson plans are based on fun - games, songs, action chants, role-playing, crafting, word recognition - combined with an excellent structured program so that the children don't feel inhibited by practicing a Modern Foreign Language.
Secondary school students and casual learners: based on a primarily assessment in French, my lessons are tailored to their needs using a fun interactive approach with some writing elements, audio-video files followed by some homework to reinforce what the students have already learned in French. Here again, I make sure that my students don't feel inhibited by talking in French but gaining confidence in learning a MFL is key to learn further French and other MFLs.
Group conversation in French/Italian: lively interaction in French based on what comes to mind and anything ranging from a book the participants would like to share, news, pass-time, travel, cooking, quizzes, etc... focusing on pronunciation and sentence construction while having fun practicing French.
