Teaching is a career I have always believed to be incredibly rewarding, it is an opportunity to make genuine change. Nurturing and cultivating a passion for English is an immense task and I have experienced first-hand the ways in which this is achieved through a thriving learning environment. Working in a diverse comprehensive has shown me how demanding, exhausting and challenging the teaching profession can be, but it has confirmed my belief that teaching is one of the most varied, exciting and rewarding careers there are. I feel privileged to be such an integral part of so many young peoples lives.
I teach both Literature and Language to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. For me, enabling a student to foster a love for reading and writing is paramount.
I specialise in AQA, however I have previously taught and assessed using Eduqas (formerly WJEC).
The demographics of the school I work in, means that I am familiar with students who may struggle with English - both native speakers and second language speakers.
Tutoring is a unique opportunity to engage individually with the learner; this is paramount. I am able to establish the most effective way of helping a student to understand a topic. My aim when tutoring is to foster independence and encourage critical thinking.
My tutoring consists of structured sessions on the given content, assessed regularly on a two week basis. Formative feedback and marking will be provided regularly; all extracts and resources will be provided.
