My name is Tamina. I am a confident and passionate individual who loves to provide children with affluent support and learning experiences. I have obtained professional qualifications through my degree study and further developed professional skills through my work across year groups in my Teaching Assisting role. I further challenged myself and undertook study to achieve my professional qualification as a HLTA and now cover classes on a regular basis.
I currently work for a tuition company in which I am a full time tutor as well as an assistant direcor. I am working with children in small groups as well as 1:1.
I have also worked as a primary school for four years as a teaching assistant. Then I went on and achieved my HLTA qualification which allowed me to carry out the role of a Cover supervisor.
I have also completed a School-led Tutor Training course too and this allowed me to gained experience in relation to working with children from different backgrounds to provide an individualistic learning programme catered towards their needs. And taking account of their Special Educational needs and aiding their learning to encourager them to work independently as well as in a group.
I have also carried out 1:1 and group intervention groups, and assessments to support children’s learning and to identify gaps in knowledge. I have planned and undertaken phonics lessons in a classroom. I have also undertaken further experience with working with children, in becoming a tutor in English and Maths. This allows me to work with the children’s parents and their school, and tailor my teaching to meet the needs of the children.
My teaching approach as a tutor is to create my students, a deeper understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and be able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves. I start from topics that the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually.
