Tania

I am a qualified registered social worker. I have worked in child protection and fostering, specialising in kinship care. I am a stage 2 practice educator for social work. I have been a social work and health and social care tutor for 9 years for the University of Cumbria. I gained a PgC in higher education in 2017. My specialist subjects are sociology, social theory, globalisation, politics, decolonisation.

Tutoring Experience

I have 9 years experience of teaching social work. Due to my background most of my teaching focussed of social theory and research methods. I am also a stage 2 practice educator for students on placement. I have also been the lead tutor for distance learners.

Tutoring Approach

I believe in a community of learners and transformational learning approach, this involves getting students to come up with their own ideas and research with guidance. This also involves questioning and debating difficult subjects in an open and safe space. I am committed to decolonising education, therefore, new approaches from other cultures are used in teaching.
