Online English and Special Needs Tuition

Tutoring, writing and proofreading support: SEN Inclusive.
All evening slots are now full. However, I am taking proofreading and school hour support - excellent for home school and adult students. Do let me know if you need proofreading rates or support.

I offer both teaching and proofreading support for all students over the age of 11, including students with additional needs. I welcome adult students and university students too!

If the student at the heart of the inquiry has a learning disability or difficulty, please do let me know so that I can advise as to whether I am suitable. I have experience working with dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD and a variety of processing disabilities and disorders. If you are not included in my listed experience, please do not be deterred: just ask and we can chat about your needs.

All lessons are held on Zoom.

Concessions and cancellation policies are available upon request.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring professionally on a 1-1 basis since 2019 in addition to teaching small groups in various extracurricular activities since 2014 and tutoring since 2017. My subjects include English, Drama, Study Skills, Essay Writing and general literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach

I structure my teaching using a student-centered approach. In one-to-one sessions I will consider how my student learns; do they like to draw; do colours help them; what previous methods have/have not worked? I will modify my teaching style to the student, rather than asking the learner to fit my style.

Group sessions are pretty similar, although I generally keep it broader, trying to find a way everyone can understand. If this is not possible, I will explain the task or topic in a generally understood way and ask the students if they have questions and to explain it to one another. This way I can find out where the gaps in understanding are and I can fill those in a way that is suitable for the learner that has not understood.
