I am a fully qualified teacher with experience in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
I have an upper second class honours degree in Psychology (Bachelor of Science).
After completing my undergraduate degree, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) at the University of East London where I was awarded Qualified Teaching Status (QTS)..
I feel very passionate about my profession and always strive to do the very best for my pupils. This would absolutely apply to tutoring, whether online or in person. I believe that, especially with 1:1 support, all children have the ability to progress and succeed.
In terms of availability, I am able to work weeknights during term time. I am also currently available during school hours if that suits.
Since qualifying as a teacher in 2015, I have taught in a London school for 3 years and a school in China for 3 years. This second post gave me valuable experience of teaching whole classes of EAL pupils. In both settings, I have had experience of teaching pupils with a range of abilities and some with special educational needs. As a qualified primary school teacher, I am aware of the learning challenges your child may face at primary school as I am very familiar with the British curriculum. I have experience of working with year groups from 1 to 6 (across KS1 and KS2).
I currently tutor a number of pupils online with the primary focus being phonics, comprehension, writing and maths.
I aim to make learning an enjoyable process as well as meaningful as, from experience, I know that if children are not able to have fun whilst they are learning, they will not fully engage. I strive to ensure that I provide targeted and appropriately challenging tasks that ensure progress and success for pupils. My tutoring sessions will always suit the particular needs of the child I am supporting, enabling them to build confidence. I believe it is crucial to form positive relationships with pupils. I encourage pupils to have a workbook to not only refer to for consolidation of learning, but to enjoy seeing progress and to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.
