I am currently a PhD researcher at the University of Exeter looking at hydrology and water management from a geophysical perspective, whilst simultaneously working as a higher education teaching associate in physical geography at undergraduate level.
I have 5+ years experience as a professional Technical Water Specialist and my academic background in biology and geography.
I have tutored and mentored younger students since I was studying for my A-levels - for 10+ years. I have always tutored in fields I am extremely passionate about and have had positive feedback that my communication and teaching methods are effective for supporting students with passing specific assessments as well as building their wider understanding of a topic.
I have also obtained a Learning and Teaching in Higher Education qualification to provide training on inclusive and effective learning, teaching, and assessment to a high level.
My tutoring approach is generally very student-specific. I will identify your desired outcome; to pass a specific exam, to complete assigned coursework, to generally build a stronger core understanding of a topic. I will also identify your effective learning methods and come up with lessons plans that will get you to your goal in the most efficient, effective and enjoyable manner possible. I will ask for as much information as possible before each session to ensure our time is spent effectively and you get the most from each session. This will include your desired styles of learning, the exam board and syllabus you are being assessed with, your current level of knowledge and understanding, and your goals & intentions for a private tutoring session.
