I am an Economics graduate from Queen Mary University of London.I now work for a global financial technology firm as analyst/consultant. I have 5+ years experience tutoring students at various level.
I have always enjoyed tutoring, in particular because I like to inspire and help my students achieve academic success.
I also have experience mentoring students which experience helps me considerably in understanding students issues and find the best ways to approach lessons
I have vast experience tutoring Economics and Maths at various levels since I have been doing this for 5+ years, including Edexcel and AQA.
I was also involved in mentoring experiences during my second and final year at university where I inspired first year university students to academic success and help them settle down to university life.
I was also involved in a programme called PASS (peer assisted study support) in which I helped students in the school of economics and finance with academic related questions.
I have extended experience working with kids, I worked in summer camps as counselor (in new york and milan).
I tend to use a scientific approach to my classes and like to structure my Economics lessons in the following way:
1)Revise/explain topic (theoretical approach)
2)Real life examples and comparisons (practical approach)
3)Questions and exercises (problem solving approach)
4)Summary
I also use a considerable number of graphs and diagrams to help students improve their understanding of the various topics covered.
Graphical representations/images have proven to be more effective and easier for students to remember.
I also use a flexible teaching approach, in fact thanks to my experience as mentor, I can easily understand strengths and weaknesses of students and work more on those specific areas students may have more issues with.
For instance: some students find more challenging to remember/learn theory and definitions, in which case I structure my classes to work on these two areas specifically.
On the other hand, some students find more challenging to solve problems and exercises, in which case I prepare more exercises and guide them through step by step.
My experience has taught me that every student is different from one another and my flexible teaching has proven to be effective.
