Hello! I am a professional musician with over 20 years playing experience. I have a BA in Popular Music (1st Class Hons) and an MA in Philosophy (Distinction). If you want to learn production online, get in touch!
I teach guitar and bass to all levels of ability, including to the Rockschool syllabus. The same is true for music theory, composition, improvisation and production.
My main passions are improvisation and composition. I also love the philosophy of mind.
I have been giving private music lessons for 6 years. These have involved bass, guitar, production, songwriting, music theory and improvisation. On the last 2 years I have been teaching beginner guitar, keyboards and ukulele in schools too. During my philosophy studies I mentored groups of secondary school students, covering all areas of philosophy.
Professionally, I have been a session bassist and guitarist for around 7 years. I have also worked on and off as a sound engineer. In the last few years, I have been undertaking a lot more mixing work as well. In my most recent project I have been composing and producing for an Arts Council funded theatre project.
I want to help students discover the joy of music. I believe that helping learners to gain confidence and enjoy playing is just as essential as imparting theoretical knowledge. Lessons should be dynamic and fun, but with enough structure to ensure a clear outcome.
