I provide English language and literature tuition, from GCSE to A-Level.
I have a 1st Class Honours BA in English Language and Literature from St. Mary's, University of Surrey.
I also have an MA and a PhD in English Literature from Royal Holloway, University of London.
I have lectured in English Literature at Brunel University and Royal Holloway University.
I have also taught at Kingston College and Richmond Adult Education College.
I have 20 years’ experience of private tuition in English literature and language, from GCSE, A Level to university degree level. I teach all the exam boards, AQA, OCR, Edexcel etc., and am familiar with the new national curriculum introduced in recent years.
My tuition is structured to meet the requirements of each exam board, with close attention paid to the different assessment objectives set out in their syllabus. Whilst adhering closely to the criteria of the examiners, the study of English can and should be enjoyed, and the texts selected by the schools and colleges offer much to appreciate. I offer guidance through those texts, an understanding of how to interpret and analyse them, especially within the cultural and historical contexts of the eras. This greatly enhances the student experience. I also teach language from the different perspectives set out by the examining body, covering all required approaches. Along the way, the student will build up a good body of revision notes in readiness for exam time.
