I am a 27 year old male who has been teaching for 5 years. I completed a degree in Sports and Exercise sciences where I received a '2:1', and have since taught Physical Education and Science to students aged 11-18.
Outside of my teaching career, I have competed in Kickboxing since the age of 13 and retired after I won a British title, now I have moved on to teaching kickboxing to children and adults.
I pride myself on my ability reframe and restructure information to allow anyone to access my teaching. I am also incredibly patient and calm, which tends to help in an education career!
I have been teaching for 5 years, and have taught PE to KS3, KS4, GCSE, BTEC and A - Level students. I have also taught science for 4 years to KS3 and KS4 students.
I have been a Head of Year for 3 years through year 9 to year 11, and therefore understand the barriers young people face, and the process of building towards exam periods.
I have a history of achieving excellent results throughout all GCSE's, BTEC's and A-Levels through in class and private tutoring.
I prioritise a holistic teaching approach that encompasses all aspects of a students successful preparation to their exams. My approach will focus on three main areas; subject knowledge, exam skills / practice and revision techniques. The length of time given to each section will vary depending on the individual needs of the student.
Subject knowledge - A solid foundation of subject knowledge is essential for any student to complete an exam paper, however is often rushed with the pace of a school environment. Building a solid subject knowledge through explanations, demonstrations and questioning is essential.
Exam skills / practice - Subject knowledge can be limited if students cannot answer exam questions which are tailored towards different exam board mark schemes. I have previously found that exam tips and practice can be missed in a classroom setting, however can have a very positive impact on a students results.
Revision techniques - Finally, schools often do not have the time or the resources to teach students how to independently and effectively revise. These skills are essential when moving on to GCSE's, A-Levels and further education. Through my experience working with examined classes I have gained a wealth of resources and techniques which students have found very effective.
My teaching style is calm, patient, friendly and always paced to the requirement of the student.
