I am a 26-year-old master's student studying international relations at Swansea University. I am passionate about politics, history, and global affairs, and I am passionate about helping people reach their potential by empathising with all people. I have dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism, which means that I have had many challenges that I have had to deal with in my life with academics, specifically English and maths being things which I have had to work at throughout my life and overcome with their being many bumps in the road which I have overcome to get to where I am now today. With this experience, I believe I am well placed to help anyone who needs help unlock their potential.
I have experience teaching English as a foreign language online to people from Brazil and China who need help with spoken English. This was recognised when I did a free initial lesson where I did a needs assessment here. I asked the students what they wanted to do in our lessons, what their English level was, and what part they struggled with.
My approach is very student-focused, with the learning being based on my supporting the student in achieving the learning goal in the needs assessment at the beginning of tutoring. My teaching works to have a cooperative environment rather than being teacher-dominated, where students have to do precisely what they are told by the teacher instead of having student input in their learning.
