I have over a decade of experience within education, teaching students from KS2 – KS5 level. I am passionate, diligent and enthusiastic, and my philosophy of “only excellence” ensures that my students make maximum levels of progress, whilst simultaneously developing a love for learning.
I hold a PGCE in English, and Qualified Teacher Status in England and Wales.
I have worked as an English teacher in Secondary Education (11-18 years old) for over a decade, including working as a Lead Practitioner of English. Within these experiences, I have developed a strong knowledge of adaptive teaching strategies to support learning and challenge for students of all abilities, including high achieving students.
My teaching pedagogy rests on the belief that all students can make significant progress when they are confident in themselves, and confident in the subject content. As a result, all of the sessions that I plan and deliver are tailored to the individual needs of the student and their unique learning style. All sessions are designed to be engaging and fun whilst providing students the academic rigour essential to foster progress.
The session format consists of a cycle of instruction, exploration, application and review. This model enables me to formatively assess the progress of my students and give additional support if required. I am also able to provide students with independent study activities that will help reinforce and consolidate the learning that takes place during the sessions.
