Hello. I recently left my full time teaching job to have a better work-life balance and now spend more of my time walking my dog, socialising with friends and enjoying life! I have always been passionate about English literature and language and know how powerful it is to have the knowledge and skills to enable you to succeed in these subjects, and in your future career.
I have 30 years experience of teaching in schools and sixth form colleges. I specialise in GCSE and A level and teach both Literature and Language to A level. For the last 16 years, I was head of a large and successful English team, as well as leading literacy across the whole school. I have previously examined both English Language and English Literature at GCSE but I am currently examining A level English Literature. I also have experience of preparing younger students for 11+ and private school entrance exams.
I am warm, patient and approachable and will take time to understand your needs. All students are different and will have different starting points so it is important to understand exactly what your strengths are, and what you need to develop. I have high expectations of myself, as I will have of you, and I will do my very best to help you achieve success.
